Sarah Lamartina

Position title: Research Specialist

Email: smlamart@wisc.edu

Sarah received her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and her Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology, both from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She spent several years working in Research and Development at Ambion in Austin, TX (now part of ThermoFisher) before moving back to Madison shortly after her daughter was born. After eight years as a “stay-at-home” mom, when her younger child was entering kindergarten, she decided to get back into academic research and joined the Young Lab. Sarah’s primary role in the Young Lab is to use cellular and molecular functional assays for testing potential disease-causing gene variants uncovered through deep sequencing of Primary Congenital Glaucoma families. Glaucoma is a complex disease involving a diverse array of cellular processes, and this research has led Sarah down numerous fascinating avenues of investigation.
